The First Hong Kong RUM FESTIVAL at Honi Honi Cocktail Lounge
On 5th and 6th May 2013, Honi Honi hosted the Hong Kong Rum Festival for us to appreciate the magic of the spirit (read: lots and lots of mojitos).
Owner of Honi Honi, Max Traverse stated “The great thing about the original tiki trend is rum sipped on its own and rum in cocktails. We hope that with this festival in
Hong Kong, people get as excited about rum and its numerous flavors.”
This explains why 10 of the top rummakers have been invited to serve us rum shots (hello hardcores) and rum-based cocktails (hello easy-goers).
The one to look out for at the festival was chief guest Ian Burrell, who carries the heavy title of Worldwide rum ambassador. This UK born chemistry major follows one quote,
“alcohol is the element and cocktails the compound”, which he was talking us through in the presentations and tasting workshops he’s hosting.
Ron Barceló, how could it be otherwise, was present at the Festival introducing and giving its varieties taste to Hong Kong rum lovers.
